• Tour des cordeliers

  • This is one of the four towers built in the early 16th century

  • It was part of the Cordeliers monastery

This is one of the four great towers (or "boulevards") built in the early 16th century.

It was part of the Cordeliers monastery, whose church was unfortunately partly torn down to make room for Rue de l’Hôtel-Dieu (early 19th century). Sold to a private individual as a Property of the State during the French Revolution, this tower was bequeathed to the Hospices de Beaune in the 19th century.

Incorrectly called the "Bastion des Hospices", it forms the backdrop for the prestigious Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction gala dinner.

As part of our guided tours, you will have the privilege of entering the tower and discovering the Great Hall of the Bastion des Hospices

Visit the famous Hospices de Beaune.

The Couvent des Cordeliers was cut in two to make room for Rue de l'Hôtel Dieu; on one side are the cloisters (Caves des Cordeliers) and on the other side are the remains of the chapel (Marché aux Vins).
